» Profile
An accomplished guitarist and singer, Vernon has supported a wide range of acts including Acoustic Alchemy, Geno Washington, Snake Davis and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Influenced by George Benson, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau and Jazz and world music, Vernon moves effortlessly between Jazz Standards, soul classics with occasional touches of reggae and township music with a dash of scatting, beat boxing and humour thrown in.Vernon’s relationship with the guitar started in London, where he cut his musical teeth in reggae and jazz funk outfits, playing venues such as Upstairs at Ronnie Scott's.
After moving to the midlands in the late 80's, Vernon became involved in the R'n'B and Jazz Fusion scene, playing regularly at the Rep Theatre Cafe Bar in Birmingham and at the Birmingham Jazz Festival as part of the Bean Machine (Jazz Fusion Band).
Since moving to the North West he has developed as a solo artist, his rich. smooth vocals travelling between the heart tugging ballad “My Funny Valentine” to the fast paced, toe tapping rhythm of “On Broadway”.
As well as playing solo, Vernon is available with a guitar or piano duo, a jazz trio, soul quartet or quintet and his infectious love of music is unmistakable to anyone watching.
Vernon will adapt each performance to the audience making every show individual with his warm personality making it unique.

The best Act we have ever had”– Manager, Aberdunant Hall Country Hotel 2009
"Finally had a chance to listen to the cd yesterday. I loaded it onto my ipod and managed to listen to it at various times during the day. It brought calm into an otherwise messy and traumatic day. Well done, your voice sounds excellent. A happy ipod listener
a refreshing change.... you were absolutely fantastic, we really enjoyed the cool soul thing you got going, you definitely gave the songs something from yourself....

"I've been last Saturday in the gig of Twin frets in Nantwich in the museum and I really liked. I'm Brazilian and I loved how you sang 'The Girl from Ipanema'. I would like to know if you have a cd with that song.

"You did a fantastic job and we have had texts from so many people to say how much they enjoyed you, so thanks so much once again for a wonderful performance and I hope we can repeat it some time. Thanks also for the donations from your CD's which is very much appreciated by us both. I am sure we will come and hear you play somewhere again soon, but until then thanks once again for doing such a fantastic job."
- Host at Charity event 2008
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for allowing me the pleasure of listening to you play at the Nantwich jazz festival, plans for Erdigg are already underway and I can't wait to come and hear you again. I have been singing now since I could talk, but never felt comfortable with chart songs and pop stuff. lt was only when I heard you, I realised what it was I wanted to sing! (at the ripe age of 27 hah!) “
- Nantwich Jazz & Blues Festival 2009
