This 8 piece live one hour tribute show to Spandau ballet is second to none, the show is electric from start to finished, the "Tony Hadley" style vocals from front man Lee James mimics the great Mr Hadley so well they have had visits from! The man himself Mr Hadley as well as Gary Kemp, Steve Norman is waiting for the opportunity to play with these guys too. Truly an amazing show, the band pulls out all the stops with a great performance every time. The Members:
Lee started off late in life for a singing career, his voice resembles that of the Great Tony Hadley yet has the versatility to adapt to Queen, U2, Duran duran and many more. At 6 foot 5 inches he owns the stage with his larger then life voice and charisma, working the audience at ever opportunity Lee delivers an outstanding performance every time.
Paul started to play the drums at the age of fifteen, in his 20s he was playing all the major venues in London and after several recording sessions landed a contract with BMG a record label based in los Angeles where Paul had a hit record which was featured on an episode of Bay watch and a follow up album. On returning to England Paul looked at a few tribute acts and settled on the best one around, Highly Strung.
Tony played keys up to 2005 with Sons of the Desert a top soul band based in hull, before this he was in a U2 tribute band white Lies and before that an 80s pop band called The Works. No stranger to large concert venues Tony has seen the likes of Hulls city hall, Sheffield City hall as well as Bridlingtons Spa and the KC stadium.
John picked up his 1st guitar at the age of 12 and has played in various bands: Scallywag, Green, The suicidal bunnys, Rock til ya drop and more. This wild man of rock produces a great rock guitar as well as pulling out all the stops with his live stage work, working together with Lee for a visual spectacle entertaining audiences everywhere they go.
Chris started playing bass in tribute bands in the 70s with Tarazara who later changed the name to Trextasy. In the 80 as well as being a session musician he played with Lindisfarne and many other bands and groups settling down with Tardis for 15 yrs prior to Highly Strung.
Penny on sax trained with the BBC in London as a sound engineer and in her spare time gigged within the local jazz scene, came to Barnsley in 2006 where she joined Highly Strung and regularly plays within the Barnsley Jazz scene as well as other tribute acts.
Our backing singers Nhadine and Jayne compliment Lee so well its musical magic to the ears and they look great.
