» Dave Biography
Dave started playing guitar at 13 as a second instrument having already been classically trained as a violinist. He soon discovered that cigarettes and alcohol and axe sounded far more sexy than cigarettes, alcohol and fiddle. His first serious band was the infamous Miss Spent Youth which then turned into a 2 1/2 year stretch with Britain's premier jump-jive band the Jive Aces with whom he toured heavily throughout Europe headlining renowned gigs such as the Slow Club in Paris and The Grand Cafe in Switzerland. During this period he work extensively in a duo that was an off-shoot of Mispent Youth under the same name.
His musical taste can best be described as ecclectic at best and more than idiosyncratic at worst. His style of playing is a peculiar mix of influences from Albert Lee, Larry Carlton and Gary Moore and also a hint of Dave Gilmour and Mark Knopfler. As well as being renowned for his virtuoso guitar playing he has also, through neccesity, developed an unique vocal style born of his love of the great swing voices and a passion for classic soul, not to mention Marlboro Lights & Bacardi!
» Nic Biography
Nic, A.K.A "Klaus" began playing Guitar in 1986 after hearing Dire Strait's Money for Nothing. A self taught player influenced heavily by Mark Knopfler. The first band he played in was called Nimbus. He was the baby of the band at 18 years as the other members were into their forties. This band covered many of the classic rock covers like Stairway to Heaven & Sultans of Swing. After this there were a few different projects until a severe broken wrist caused a two year break unable to play. The next big project was Savannah. An originals band formed, funnily enough by Dave (Bravado) Robson and scouser Dave Ryan. Klaus took over the guitar spot after the band had been together for three years. During this period they played gigs at such venues as Covent Gardens Rock Garden and the Mean Fiddler to name but a few. An EP was also recorded featuring songs written and recorded by the various band line ups over the years, including the song With You Tonight written by Klaus & Dave Ryan which also received air play on Millenium Radio and AFR radio.
When Savannah finally split a short period of rest was taken until the formation of what is now known as Bravado. Dave was short of equipment due to all of his being stolen and knocked on Nic's door one day and said "Got a gig tonight and no gear can I borrow yours?" Soon after Bravado were hatched. Now playing his beloved Godin LGX guitar, sporting no hair and still singing like a goose farting in the fog he is still knocking out Sultans of Swing regularly on gigs 17 years on, Sad Git.
