» Line Up
Anne Burton: Piano, vocals, violinAnne has been performing for over a decade and has played to audiences in every possible type of venue, ranging from a double garage (the smallest) to crowds of thousands at outdoor festivals. Whatever the event, she simply loves playing music.
She has released several CD's.
Steve Kennell: Tenor & Soprano sax, vocals, congas.
Steve has literally circled the globe dozens of times over with his sax, playing for 20 years
aboard the QEII . His vast experience includes television (he played on the original
BBC "Come Dancing" rogramme), radio (live for years on the Terry Wogan show), and all sorts of other high profile events. He led his own big-band for many years, and they enjoyed a long term residency at Blackpool's famous ballroom.
Keith Virley: Drums
Without doubt, one of the most respected figures on the East Anglian jazz scene, Keith began by playing popular and dance music with big bands. He then appeared with his own quartet at Ipswich's Albion Mills Jazz
Club. Following success with various residencies playing with the likes of Dave Bishop, Keith
went on to provide backing for many top British and American recording artists who guested at the Ipswich Jazz club during the
1980's.
Rob Palmer: Bass
After several years in rock and pop bands, Rob started playing jazz in 1988, eventually moving to Surrey and playing with several big names:Jim Mullen, Stan Sultzman, Iain Ballamy, Hank Shaw, Janusz Carmello, Roy Williams & Campbell Burnap. His move to Suffolk in 2002 brought a change of musical direction and Rob regularly plays with legendary Ipswich funk band Swagger and Suffolk based Latin bands Albino Cubana and BossaSuperNova.
The jazz is never very far away, however and, in addition to Body and Soul, Rob continues to play with both local musicians and national figures like guitarists Nick Page (Humphrey Lyttelton, Don Rendell, Alan Skidmore) & Nigel Price (James Taylor Quartet) and with saxophonist Stewart Curtis (Nik Kershaw).
Rob has played international jazz festivals from Brecon to Vienne and had his work played on national radio and television.
