» Profile
Andy Eastwood is a unique young artist who has dazzled audiences with his playing from the West End of London to the music festivals of Europe and beyond. Andy's specialities are the ukulele-banjo, violin and guitar, and in a lively, refreshing act, he combines vocal and instrumental artistry with personality and humour, bringing to life songs of all kinds.Born in Lancashire in 1981, Andy began performing at an early age, studying classical violin and piano. But he also developed a passion for jazz and popular music, and having taught himself the ukulele and guitar, he made history at Oxford University by being the only musician ever to give his degree recital on the ukulele! He is now described as Britain's foremost ukulele virtuoso, and is widely recognised as the finest re-creator of George Formby's comic songs.
Andy has worked as a recording artist, actor and composer in theatre, television and radio, but it is as a solo act that he is most in demand, and he has performed with stars such as Ken Dodd, Max Bygraves, Danny La Rue, Des O'Connor and Joe Pasquale. Andy has enjoyed several award-winning summer seasons at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, being voted the resort's 'Top Solo Artist' and he has made some 200 performances as guest artist with The Ken Dodd Happiness Show and The Ken Dodd Comedy Festival.
Andy's versatility is as impressive as his virtuosity. In variety-style nostalgia shows, he has portrayed favourite entertainers and musicians such as comedian George Formby, violinist Stephane Grapelli and Rock & Roll star Buddy Holly at some of Britain's most prestigious theatres and concert halls. In cabaret, he has presented his fast-moving multi-instrumental act aboard cruise ships and in luxury hotels worldwide. At Christmas, you will find him taking on comic pantomime roles and enhancing the fun with his own bright and breezy blend of music and comedy.
It's little wonder that The Stage newspaper has described Andy as "A class act", "A born entertainer" and most recently - "the busiest man in Showbusiness!"
